Julia is always delighted to carry out condition reports on pictures coming up at auction. She will put herself in her clients’ shoes, give them her honest opinion and can be their trusted ‘eyes and ears’.
She will begin by providing a detailed description of the piece ‘in the flesh’, including information about the painting’s state – has it been lined already, or extensively retouched? Has the canvas suffered tears? What’s the state of the frame? Her report also acts as a rough guide to the cost of any conservation needed, so buyers are made aware of any likely additional costs, over and above the auction house commission on the final auction price.
