Handmade Frames and Display Cases For many years prior to establishing the Frame sales at Christies in 1986, Julia was passionate about frames and display cases and the vital contribution which they offer towards the presentation and enjoyment of a work of art. A good frame achieves a transition to a superior genre and establishes the authority of the work it embraces.

In her workshop in West London, Julia and her colleagues remain dedicated to the conservation of frames and to designing elegant, hand-made frames and display cabinets which protect, treasure and cherish the works of art they contain.

Julia’s workshop is notably versatile in all the work it undertakes. The team welcomes challenges and the difference in the ‘before’ and ‘after’ is there for all to see in the sections covering Hand-made Frames and Display Cabinets / Cases. All the work which the team undertakes is bespoke, whether a single item or a series to accommodate a set of similar items. Quality rather than quantity is the determinant of the team’s efforts in the search for the best way to mount, display and project a picture or object of art.

All the frames and cabinets are made with understanding and sympathy for the quality of the works of art to be displayed. The combination of Julia’s extensive knowledge of the history of frames, her rare experience of working in varying art disciplines and the benefits of her multi-skilled team continue to result in an unusually satisfying display of all types of works. Come to the studios to see for yourself. You will not be disappointed!
